Olivia- has turned 12!!! Woah!
It is hard to imagine that my little baby (Olivia) is now 12 years old. She had her birthday this last Saturday (September 12). She is growing up so fast, and she has been a wonderful help in many things, from different computer/paper work related stuff, to helping with cooking (she is really good at making salads). She is also a wonderful swimmer and very athletic. She loves art work, and singing. She has been doing well in her guitar playing (she started learning 6 months ago).
Here are a few pictures of Olivia, but the most recent pictures will be posted soon.*
Now the birthdays all begin, as Olivia kicks it all off. She was Sept. 12, Georgia will be 5 on Oct. 6, Kiona will be 11 yrs old on Nov. 7, then Valorie will be 9 yrs old on Dec. 18....
Anyway, Olivia... We love you TONS!!! You are really a wonderful daughter.
Saturday
Cystic Fibrosis Education day August 2009 in Kansas City.
I attended a 'Cystic Fibrosis Education Day' seminar in Kansas City, Missouri. I was surprised, as there were a lot of people there. It was directed to the parents of kids with CF (Cystic Fibrosis) or the care providers. In the picture above I met the authors of a book called 'The Power of Two' A Twin Triumph over Cystic Fibrosis. Written by Isabel Stenzel Byrnes and Anabel Stenzel. They are Japanese/German twins, from California. If you get a chance you should check out their book or look at their website: www.stenzeltwins.com
There were many different topics covered were:
CF across the lifespan (from the Stenzel twins)
CF and Finances (for treatments and future care of patients, etc.)
Research updates (by- Jaylene Weigel -RN,CPN)
Transitioning to Adult Care (Dr. Quijano & Dr. Black)
Eating Behaviors and CF (by- Rebecca Johnson, PhD)
This lady had a lot of pretty good tips on how to work with picky eaters and kids who need to accomplish various medical procedures etc.
I was happy to hear that there has been lots of good progress on the research side of things.
The Seminar was from 8am- 2pm.
Bye and have a good day everyone.
Sunday
